Great! who wouldn't like a beach outing with enthusiastic and charismatic people? We arrange two outings monthly: one for windsurfing and another for surfing, scheduled for the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, respectively. Preceding the trips, we conduct a dry session on Thursdays, covering fundamental aspects and facilitating wetsuit fittings. On the day of the trip, we meet early in the morning at clubhouse, load gear, go to the beach, and return late in the evening. The start and return times are 5.30 AM-5.30 PM for surfing and 9 AM - 9 PM for windsurfing.

Unless otherwise noted, trips are open to ANY skill level, including complete beginner. We always go to beginner-friendly beaches and bring plenty of beginner gear. However, the trips are not one-on-one lessons. But, there are advanced surfers on every trip who are happy to give pointers and help you have a great day. The trip includes organized carpool and gear transportation, so don't worry if you don't have a car. Each trip costs $20 including all necessary gear and supplies except personal expenses (e.g. food, sunscreen). Gas and parking expenses are divided among the carpooling group.

To join a trip, take the following steps:

• Keep an eye out for the trip sign-up email, which is typically sent about one week before the excursion. Take the time to thoroughly review its contents, and make sure to complete the Google form included in the email. If you wish to invite friends, forward them the entire email so they can review the details and sign up accordingly.
• The trips are open to anyone in the Caltech/JPL community and their guests. Must be over 18. You do NOT need to be a club member or have attended a clubhouse tour to sign up.
• Trip spots fill out fast. So make sure you sign up well in advance. That's it. The rest of the instructions will come in the trip confirmation email. You do NOT need to pay annual dues or sign a membership waiver to join these trips. We will collect trip payments and trip waivers the morning of the trip.

These trips are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather or lack of availability of enough advanced surfers.

The club offers any time gear rental to members of the club. Club members are defined as those who have participated in the clubhouse tour and are up-to-date on their annual dues. To rent gear, attend a clubhouse tour typically scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6 PM. This is mandatory for all new members. At the clubhouse tour, you will learn the process for renting gear and get an overview of everything we have to offer. Later, you can rent gear as you require following the guidelines mentioned on our on our Equipment and Policies pages.

Further, additional clubhouse tours are held during busy periods such as summer months. If you cannot attend the monthly tour or you just arrived and want to rent gear sooner, contact us to arrange an additional tour.
